Report Agnez Mo to Bareskrim Polri, Ari Bias Has Implemented the Direct License System to Singers who Sing His Songs

Kapanlagi.com - Songwriter Ari Bias officially reported singer Agnez Mo to Bareskrim Polri on Wednesday (19/6/2024). This report is related to allegations of copyright infringement, where Agnez Mo performed the song "Bilang Saja" in concerts in three different cities without permission from the songwriter, Ari Bias.

Ari Bias' legal representative, Minola Sebayang, revealed that the legal process regarding this issue is ongoing and there is a possibility for a peaceful settlement. "We don't know yet because the process is still ongoing and we are concerned about it. We will see the progress and mechanism, whether they have the intention to do restorative justice," said Minola Sebayang, at Bareskrim Polri, Wednesday (19/6/2024).

"If there is (restorative justice), of course, our client will be considered, so the series of events should not be considered because legal considerations must be made," added Minola.

1. Already Informed Agnez's Management

Minola said that Ari Bias had previously informed Agnez Mo's management about singing his client's song through the licensing system. Where royalty payments are made directly between the creator and the copyright user.

"Ari has also conveyed to Agnes Mo's management that he applies a direct license, meaning if you want to perform that song, ask him directly," said Minola.

This system not only applies to Agnez Mo. But, Ari Bias also applies it to other singers who perform his works on stage, including Kris Dayanti.

"This was communicated to other artists like KD (Kris Dayanti) and KD complies with it," he said.

2. Not Only Agnez Mo

Previously, Ari Bias sent a summons letter to Agnez Mo in May. As it was ignored, Ari Bias reported Agnez Mo to the Indonesian National Police Headquarters regarding alleged copyright infringement.

"Agnez Mo was reported for using Ari Bias' song Bilang Saja in a live concert without permission, without asking for permission from Ari Bias as the creator," said Minola Sebayang.
