Kapanlagi.com - The Malang Police have declared six officials at the Kebonagung Malang Sugar Factory (PG) as suspects in a case of obstructing the investigation into the death of a worker at the factory. The six suspects are HR (Head of Department), LAW (Head of Department), H (Section Head), FR (Head of Department), IM (Section Head), ANC (Subsection Head). Some of the suspects played a role in planning the obstruction.

"We have declared 6 suspects, consisting of officials both in the Head of Department and Section Head positions," said AKP Wahyu Rizki Saputro, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malang Police, on Wednesday (12/7).

"Their roles vary, but it is clear that most of these suspects had a role in holding meetings to plan the obstruction," he added.

1. Victim Killed in Grinding Machine

The obstruction of the investigation began with the death of MF (25), an electrical technician at the factory. The victim fell into the grinding machine on Monday (5/6) and died after receiving treatment at the hospital.

However, the incident was not reported to the police by the factory. The police also initially did not obtain permission to conduct a crime scene investigation. The permission to conduct a crime scene investigation was only granted on Thursday (8/6) at a location that did not match the actual crime scene.

"What is clear is that when we arrived to conduct the crime scene investigation, we were not immediately granted permission to enter. Two days later, we were allowed, but what was presented to us was not the actual crime scene, but a staged crime scene based on the planning agreed upon by the suspects," he explained.

2. Case Investigation

The perpetrators are charged under Article 221 paragraph 1 letter 2e regarding attempts to cover up non-criminal acts and hide evidence, with a punishment of 9 months in prison. The perpetrators are currently undergoing questioning at the Malang Police Resort.

In addition, the Malang Police Resort is also conducting an investigation into the negligence in the work accident case. The negligence case still requires further investigation and expert testimony from the East Java Provincial Manpower Office.

"The negligence is evident, as there were no warnings or signs of caution in the area. The workers did not use personal protective equipment, the floor holes were not secured, and the lower part was not secured, causing the victim to fall and die," he explained.
