Kapanlagi.com - Football fans in the homeland, get ready! The Indonesian national team will return to action in the international friendly tournament FIFA Series 2026. This prestigious event will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, at the end of March 2026.
The Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) will be a silent witness to the Garuda squad's struggle against teams from different confederations. This tournament is a golden opportunity for the national team to test new strengths and strategies under coach John Herdman.
Four countries will participate in the FIFA Series 2026 in Jakarta, including the Indonesian national team as the host. They will compete in a mini-tournament format that promises intense matches and surprises.
The Indonesia National Team will undergo two important matches in this FIFA Series 2026 event. The first match will immediately be a tough test for the Garuda squad in front of their home crowd.
The first match of the Indonesia National Team is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026, at 20:00 WIB, against Saint Kitts and Nevis. Meanwhile, the second match will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, with the time and opponent determined by the results of the previous match.
In addition to the Indonesia National Team, three other countries that will enliven the FIFA Series 2026 in Jakarta are Bulgaria from UEFA, the Solomon Islands from OFC, and Saint Kitts and Nevis from CONCACAF. This meeting presents an interesting intercontinental match.
Based on FIFA rankings, Bulgaria is the highest-ranked team among the participants, occupying the 88th position in the world. The Indonesia National Team is ranked 122, followed by the Solomon Islands (152), and Saint Kitts and Nevis (154).
The FIFA Series 2026 uses a mini-tournament format with a knockout system, where each team will play two matches. The winner of the first match will advance to the final, while the losing team will compete for third place.
The mental readiness of players in facing the knockout system will be a key evaluation point for the coaching staff. This format is designed by FIFA to bring together national teams from different confederations in a series of international friendly matches.
The FIFA Series 2026 will also mark the debut of Indonesia's new national team coach, John Herdman, who was introduced in January 2026. This is Herdman's first opportunity to test his strategic concoction with the Garuda squad.
PSSI aims for the Garuda team to continue improving its international competitiveness as part of the efforts towards the 2030 World Cup. Herdman will have a tough task to prepare the team in a short time.
Don't worry about missing out! All matches of the FIFA Series 2026 will be broadcast live by Indosiar, SCTV, and the streaming service Vidio. Fans can watch the action of the Indonesian National Team from home.
The Indonesian National Team's match against Saint Kitts and Nevis on March 27, 2026, will be aired on Indosiar and SCTV. The second match of the Indonesian National Team on March 30, 2026 (final or third place playoff) will also be broadcast on Indosiar and SCTV.
Although the BRI Super League 2025/2026 will be on break from March 16 to April 2, 2026, there are unique challenges in the preparation of the National Team. The timing of the FIFA Series 2026, which is close to the Eid al-Fitr holiday 1447 H (March 21-22, 2026), is a serious consideration.
Players may want to return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families. PSSI has not yet been able to determine exactly when John Herdman will gather his players for the FIFA Series 2026.
This tournament is very important for measuring team strength and improving FIFA rankings. Coaches can experiment with new tactics and give players the opportunity to showcase their best abilities.
This is a strategic step in the long-term preparation of the Indonesian National Team. This event is a golden opportunity for the Garuda squad to test the team's strength while also improving player composition.
After the FIFA Series 2026, the focus of the Indonesian National Team will shift to the AFF Cup 2026, now known as the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026. This regional tournament will be held in the middle of the year, from July 24 to August 26, 2026.
The Indonesian National Team is grouped in Group A based on the group draw results on Thursday, January 15, 2026. This marks a schedule change from previous editions, which usually take place at the end of the year.
