Held Merrily, Bontang City Carnival Presents a Miniature Portrait of Indonesia

Kapanlagi.com - The government of Bontang City, East Kalimantan, once again presents the annual event Bontang City Carnival (BCC). The event, held in conjunction with the city's anniversary, is not just a parade, but also an effort to showcase Bontang as a miniature of Indonesia.

Although it is considered a small city, it has grown and developed from the processing of natural resources that attract many workers from various regions in the country. Moreover, the area, which was once part of the Kutai Sultanate, has grown with rich cultural diversity.

Bambang Cipto Mulyono, the Head of the Department of Education and Culture (Disdikbud) of Bontang City, admitted that he wanted to show BCC as a miniature portrait of Indonesia. The City of Gardens has various diversities that can create beautiful harmony.

“Through BCC, we want to show the public that Bontang is a miniature of Indonesia. It consists of various ethnic groups, all living harmoniously, peacefully, loving arts and culture, and building harmony for a greater and more civilized Bontang,” said Bambang, on Thursday (19/10/2023).

Therefore, the implementation of BCC is important to show that diversity combined with creativity can showcase beauty. The carnival, connected with a cultural parade, has its own meaning about diversity.

Bambang hopes that BCC will also become a symbol of strong unity. The creativity that grows with each culture's background will highlight the beauty of differences.

“We appreciate the creativity of each participant to perform in the carnival and build a cultural harmony that shows togetherness, diversity, and peace to realize a more civilized Bontang,” explained Bambang.

Carrying the Theme of Great Creativity, Civilized Cultural Harmony

As for this year's Bontang City Carnival event, it was successfully held on Saturday (21/10/2023) and featured 35 carnival participants and 60 cultural parade participants. Specifically for this year, the event carries the theme of Great Creativity, Civilized Cultural Harmony.

“Participants consist of all organizations, associations, Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), art studios, and groups of carnival enthusiasts,” he said.
