The Ministry of Industry has just visited the Le Minerale factory located in Ciherang, Bogor, and listened to the presentation on how the company ensures the best process from upstream to downstream. This process includes water resource conservation, modern production technology, packaging selection, safe distribution systems protected from direct sunlight exposure, and efforts to reduce waste through circular economy movements.

Strict Quality Control

Produced from selected spring water sources, Le Minerale always ensures that its products contain the minerals as stated on the packaging. Therefore, strict quality control processes are continuously carried out from the selection of spring water sources to packaging.

Le Minerale also ensures its hygiene by directly sealing the products from the spring water source using advanced technology. This is to ensure that the products are not touched by human hands directly.
“When reviewing the production process to packaging, we see that Le Minerale has complied with all parameters of the Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and is produced according to and even exceeds the standards of the packaged water industry and food safety,” explained Merri.

For its efforts, Le Minerale has obtained the SNI 3553 year 2015 certificate as well as the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000.

Distribution with High Standards

Le Minerale also maintains its commitment in terms of distribution processes. The standard for shipping and storing products is to avoid direct sunlight. The products are stored in clean, cool places and kept away from sharp-smelling objects to ensure product quality until it reaches the hands of consumers.

"In the regulations, it has been stipulated that bottled drinking water manufacturers are obliged to ensure that the distribution, which can be controlled by the manufacturer, must not be directly exposed to sunlight. We appreciate Le Minerale for also maintaining this distribution process. We have reviewed the storage facilities and delivery fleet. All of Le Minerale's trucks are covered. Therefore, we believe that not only in the production process, but also in distribution, Le Minerale is handled safely," he continued.

Full Support for Government Efforts

In addition to ensuring the production and distribution processes meet the highest standards, Le Minerale has shown strong commitment in supporting the government's efforts to maintain and preserve water resources, which are vital assets for the nation. Over the years, Le Minerale has contributed to water conservation through various initiatives that align with the roadmap for expanding the implementation of the drinking water security plan 2021-2025 developed by Bappenas.

"By 2023, Le Minerale has planted more than 200,000 trees in seven regions in Indonesia, including East Java, West Java, Makassar, and Palembang." Every year, this tree planting program successfully plants no less than 20,000 trees spread across water catchment areas," said Johan Muliawan, Government Director of Le Minerale. Le Minerale has also been accredited as a Green Industry, which complies with the SIH 11050.1 standard for mineral water industry in 2020, as well as the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management in 2015.

Responsibility is also carried out downstream or post-consumption. In order to reduce plastic waste, Le Minerale has initiated the National Circular Economy Movement (GESN) since 2021. Through this program, Le Minerale collaborates with various parties to process plastic waste into high-value recycled products.

In addition, to ensure the absorption of PET consumption residues, Mayora Group has also established PT Bumi Indus Padma Jaya (BIPJ), a plastic recycling factory specifically for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that meets food safety standards (food grade).

"BIPJ will be downstream of Le Minerale's GESN, while education on waste separation from households and activities that support the increase in collection rate will continue to be promoted to the community. With this approach, Le Minerale hopes to encourage more parties to participate in a sustainable circular economy movement," concluded Johan.
