1. Burn Your Ex's Belongings

Buya Yahya firmly states that dating, or relationships that have not been legalized, is a disgrace that should be left behind. For those who want to repent from a dark past, regret must be genuine.

However, how can one erase the shadows of an ex? Buya Yahya suggests burning all the items that were ever given by an ex, so that haunting memories do not linger.

"Nostalgia is sharp; it can lead us back to the path of disgrace," he said.

If you still keep items or phone numbers of your ex, it means your repentance is not yet fully sincere.

"Erase all signs that remind us of the dark past, and start a new life.

Insya Allah, the path to a better person will be opened," he concluded with hope.

2. Repentance with Sincerity

Moving on from memories of an ex is indeed not an easy task, but Buya Yahya emphasizes the importance for a Muslim to firmly reject returning to a path full of disgrace.

According to him, repentance that is only accompanied by tears without forgetting the dark past will be in vain, because the devil will continue to tempt one to fall into the same sin.

"Erasing everything that brings us back to evil is an obligation for those who wish to repent. Repentance means regret, and regret has a very deep meaning," said Buya Yahya.
