20 Days Detained for Alleged Corruption, Mark Sungkar is Sick

Kapanlagi.com - Artist Mark Sungkar is currently involved in a case of alleged corruption or embezzlement of funds for the Trialthon training program. The 72-year-old man has been detained for 20 days, precisely since his case file was handed over to the Central Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.

"It has been 20 days since Mr. Mark became a defendant," said Fahri Bachmid, Mark's lawyer, when met at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (9/3).

During 20 days of being detained in prison, Mark Sungkar's condition is quite concerning. His health is deteriorating day by day. "He (Mark Sungkar) complained of being sick. When he was detained, he had diarrhea. He also mentioned that his back pain recurred," he said.

Therefore, the legal team of Zaskia and Shireen Sungkar's father will try to request a suspension of his detention to the panel of judges. "Later, we will ask the Panel of Judges for a suspension of detention or to be placed under house arrest, based on humanitarian considerations," he said.

2. Mark Sungkar's Case

As known, Mark Sungkar created and submitted a proposal for an event titled 'Era Baru Triathlon Indonesia' to the Minister of Youth and Sports, with a budget of IDR 5.072 billion, in 2017. After the event, there was a remaining amount of IDR 399.7 million from the event's budget, which is suspected to have been used by Mark Sungkar for personal enrichment.

In addition, Mark Sungkar is also accused of enriching others, including Andi Ameera Sayaka with IDR 20.65 million, Wahyu Hidayat with IDR 41.3 million, Eva Desiana with IDR 41.3 million, Jauhari Johan with IDR 41.3 million, or the corporate party The Cipaku Garden Hotel on behalf of Luciana Wibowo with IDR 150.65 million.

As a result, the state suffered a loss of a total of IDR 694.9 million, as reported in the audit report by BPKP.
