Agnez Mo Absents Three Times from Copyright Lawsuit Hearing, Judge Takes Firm Stance

Unpleasant news comes from international singer Agnez Mo. The performer of the song Coke Bottle is reported to have skipped the summons from the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) related to the copyright lawsuit involving her name. The hearing, held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, was scheduled to summon the defendants, but Agnez Mo was notably absent.

This case began with a lawsuit filed by songwriter Arie Sapta Hernawan, better known as Arie Bias. Arie is suing for royalties for his song titled Bilang Saja, which was popularized and performed in several shows by Agnez Mo.

In the case registered under number 136/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2025/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst., Agnez Mo holds the status of Co-Defendant I. In addition to Agnez, other parties being sued include PT Aneka Bintang Gading as the Defendant, as well as the National Collective Management Institution (LMKN) and the Indonesian Copyright Collective Management Institution (KCI) as Co-Defendants II and III.

Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Sunoto SH MH, confirmed Agnez Mo's absence from the trial. In fact, the court had issued a valid and proper summons three times in a row to the former child singer.

"In that trial, Co-Defendant II was present, while Co-Defendant I and Co-Defendant III were absent despite being duly summoned three (3) times," explained Sunoto in his official statement.

Agnez Mo's repeated absences have certainly drawn attention. As a professional public figure, compliance with legal processes is very important. Agnez's absence has caused the trial process to be continually postponed.

As a result of the absence, the panel of judges decided to continue the trial without calling Agnez Mo and the Third Defendant again. This firm step was taken to prevent the legal process from dragging on.

"The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with the agenda for the Second Defendant to complete the legal standing documents, while the First and Third Defendants will not be called again," explained Sunoto.

The court's decision not to call Agnez Mo again could imply the loss of her opportunity to provide a defense or clarification directly in front of the court. This certainly harms her position in this copyright dispute.

The lawsuit over the royalty of the song Bilang Saja adds to the long list of copyright disputes in the domestic music industry. Arie Bias, as the songwriter, feels that his economic rights have not been fulfilled over a work that has benefited others.
