Agnez Mo's Cassation Granted by the Supreme Court, No Need to Pay Royalties of Rp1.5 Billion to Ari Bias

The Supreme Court (MA) has finally granted the cassation filed by singer Agnez Mo regarding the payment of royalties amounting to Rp1.5 billion. This decision was made on Monday, August 11, 2025, and announced via the official MA website on Thursday (14/8/2025). With this decision, Agnez Mo is free from the obligation to pay royalties of Rp1.4 billion that were previously set due to being deemed to have sung the song Bilang Saja without permission.

Agnez Mo is free from the obligation to pay royalties of Rp1.4 billion to Ari Bias after being previously convicted for allegedly singing the song 'Bilang Saja' without permission.

The cassation decision is registered under Number 825 K/PDT.SUS-HKI/2025, which was ruled by the Chief Justice of the Cassation Assembly I Gusti Sumanath along with associate justices Panji Widagdo and Rahmi Mulyati.

"Decision: accepted," thus reads the ruling from the official Supreme Court website, quoted on Thursday (14/8/2025).

Previously, musician Ari Bias, the creator of the song 'Bilang Saja', had a relaxed attitude towards Agnez Mo's subsequent legal actions when the Central Jakarta Commercial Court imposed a fine of Rp1.5 billion on Agnez.

However, it turns out that Agnez Mo did not remain silent; she filed for cassation, which has been granted by the panel of judges.

This case has also attracted attention from the Indonesian Federation of Musicians' Unions (FESMI) and the Indonesian Union of Singers, Songwriters, and Musicians (PAPPRI).

Both organizations submitted an Amicus Curiae to the Supreme Court, a kind of official input for the panel of judges, to reject Ari Bias's lawsuit in order to avoid legal uncertainty in the music industry.
