Agnez Mo Must Pay a Total Penalty Fee of Rp 1.5 Billion, Here's Composer Ari Bias' Explanation

Composer Ari Bias has issued an open summons to Agnez Mo and promoter HW Group. He is demanding that they pay a penalty fee for using the song Bilang Saja without permission during a concert in May 2023.

Ari is requesting a penalty fee of Rp 500 million for each song that was commercialized without permission.

However, because Agnez performed it three times during concerts in Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta, the total amount becomes Rp 1.5 billion.

"Since we are discussing incidents during the event, the total amount is Rp 1.5 billion or Rp 500 million for each event. It is their joint responsibility," said Ari during a press conference in the Gatot Subroto area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/5/2024).

500 million IDR for one that is used without permission is considered quite large. Minola Sebayang, as the legal representative of Ari Bias, explained that it is in accordance with what is stated in the Copyright Law.

"So if we talk about why (500 million IDR), it is indeed regulated in the Copyright Law," said Minola on the same occasion.

We could ask for 1.5 billion IDR per concert, but we choose not to go that high. We think 500 million IDR is enough," he continued.

Long before sending closed and open summons, it seems that Ari Bias tried to approach the personal realm by speaking to Agnez Mo's manager and brother.

However, due to receiving negative responses, he finally took the current step.

"I've already chatted with Steve about it. I Whatsapp him that I have already obtained a direct license for the three concerts. But as I said, there was no response. That's why in December I banned the use of my songs because they were uncooperative," said Ari Bias.
