Ammar Zoni Denies Being a Drug Dealer, Swears by God

Ammar Zoni made a shocking statement while reading his defense note or plea before the panel of judges. Facing a 9-year prison sentence from the Public Prosecutor (JPU), Ammar firmly denied the allegations that he was involved in a drug trafficking network as a dealer. He repeatedly swore by God to emphasize his position.

The actor feels that the accusations against him are unreasonable for a drug user. He also revealed the pressures he experienced during the police investigation process. Ammar claimed there was violence and coercion during his examination for the preparation of the Minutes of Examination (BAP) at the beginning of his case.

"But by God, I am not as accused. By God, I am not a dealer," explained Ammar Zoni at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Ammar detailed that he never profited commercially from the illegal goods. He also stated that during the BAP process, he was not accompanied by legal counsel and experienced pressure both physically and verbally. This is an important point in his defense for the judge to reconsider the sentence that will be imposed.

"By Allah, I have never once sold or acted as an intermediary, nor have I possessed or even stored the items as alleged. By Allah, I have not received any profit whatsoever," said Ammar Zoni.

"By Allah, I was not accompanied by legal counsel during the BAP. By Allah, the BAP was made under pressure. By Allah, I suffered physical violence, both being kicked and verbally, from certain police officers. And I am ready to be held accountable for all my statements," Ammar Zoni added.

In addition, Ammar also recounted his mental condition, which was shaken when he learned of the very high charges. In the midst of mourning the loss of his father and the news that his ex-wife would remarry, Ammar admitted that he almost lost his sanity. Fortunately, he still remembered his late father's message to remain strong in facing his life choices.

"Not even 100 days after my father's death, I was transferred to Salemba Prison to undergo trial. To make matters worse, my ex-wife informed me that she would soon marry another man of her choice. Additionally, at that time, I was facing a prosecution demand of 12 years in prison for being a substance abuser. I was almost going crazy," he explained.

At the end of his defense, Ammar pleaded for justice, asking that his fate be considered based on the fact that he is an addict in need of help, not a major criminal. He hopes the panel of judges will see his future and the future of his children, who still very much need their father's presence.

"Thus, this is the content about the secrets of myself. Without any reduction or addition, everything is clearly and truly as it is. I hope Your Honor, the Panel of Judges, can show compassion in deciding the matter of my future life," said Ammar.

"Without denying what I have done, I sincerely plead as humbly as possible regarding my fate so that Your Honor, the Panel of Judges, considers my age, my future, my career, my family, and my young children who need their biological father. Not as a criminal who deserves to have his life destroyed," concluded Ammar.
