Ammar Zoni Pleads to the Judges, Legal Counsel Says It Is a Normal Thing

Kapanlagi.com - Ammar Zoni pleads to the panel of judges at the West Jakarta District Court to deliver the fairest verdict possible. The husband of Irish Bella denied his involvement in drug business. This includes allegations that he provided capital for the illegal trade.

"I plead to your honor to deliver the fairest decision possible. That I am not, as a capital provider. I am not as accused, I am not a capital provider, I plead your honor to consider," said Ammar Zoni during the hearing held at the West Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (6/8/2024).

1. The Request Is Very Reasonable

After the trial, Ammar Zoni's lawyer, Jon Mathias, stated that Ammar Zoni's request during the trial was very reasonable. Moreover, the one who decided the sentence for Ammar Zoni was the panel of judges themselves.

"In my opinion, it's reasonable. The one who decides is the judge, so it’s impossible for him to plead to the prosecutor. The prosecutor's demand is even higher than for corruption cases," he said.

"In the MBZ toll case, the prosecutor's guideline was four years, with state losses of IDR 510 billion, the judge decided three years. Now this is just a case of self-destruction being sentenced to 12 years," Jon Mathias added.

2. Denying the Prosecutor's Allegations

As is known, the continuation of the drug case trial with defendant Ammar Zoni was scheduled for a rebuttal. Like the previous trial, the former husband of Irish Bella was presented online via Zoom and watched the trial from Salemba Detention Center, South Jakarta.

In his rebuttal, Ammar Zoni's lawyer denied all the rebuttals presented by the Public Prosecutor (JPU). One of the denials was related to the prosecutor's statement that Ammar Zoni was involved in drug trafficking, including the accusation that he provided capital for the illegal business.
