Just a User, Ammar Zoni's Side Emphasizes Not Involved or Funding Drug Business

Kapanlagi.com - Ammar Zoni responded to the answer from the Public Prosecutor (JPU) regarding the rejection of the defense note against him. Represented by his attorney, Jon Mathias, he assessed that the JPU's rejection of Ammar Zoni's plea was indeed a normal thing.

Jon Mathias also admitted that his side already knew that the plea from their client would be rejected by the JPU. Because if it were accepted, Ammar would automatically be free from all charges.

"Yes, it must be understood, the JPU will definitely reject it because if everything is agreed upon, Ammar is free. It is the JPU's duty to prosecute, and the lawyer's duty to defend," said Jon Mathias when met at the West Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (30/7).

1. Opportunity to Respond to the Prosecutor

However, due to the rejection, Ammar Zoni's side was given the opportunity by the Panel of Judges to respond to the Prosecutor's answer. The Prosecutor's rejection will be met with strong evidence and legal grounds.

"The prosecutor's reply is about our plea, he responds and he refutes. So later we will be given a week to submit a duplicate," he said.

"We will respond to the prosecutor's rejection with evidence and legal grounds," he continued.

2. Considered Dishonest

In addition, the Public Prosecutor rejected Ammar's plea because it was considered dishonest and not in line with the facts of the trial. Ammar did not admit to sending money to Akri, another defendant suspected of drug trafficking.

Moreover, there was a code given by Ammar to Akri, in the process suspected of drug trafficking, namely "Fish" for methamphetamine and "Vegetable" for another type. Regarding this, Jon Mathias feels that the code was not appropriately used by the Public Prosecutor to reject Ammar's plea.

3. Just an Alibi

It also assesses that the prosecutor's reason for using "Fish and Vegetables" as a code to cover up Ammar's narcotics business is merely an alibi.

"If that code is known only by intelligence, then civilians don’t know that code, because it’s the intelligence that uses the code. Even if they use it, that coded language is not applicable in the law," he explained.

"That’s intelligence language, so that’s not an alibi for the prosecutor to say that it’s drugs with that. Besides saying Vegetables, Fish, is there any other drug language or meth, is there? No, right? It’s just an alibi," he concluded.
