Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Dwi Sasono Faces 4 Years in Prison or Rehabilitation

Kapanlagi.com - The entertainment world was shocked by the news of the arrest of actor Dwi Sasono in early June 2020. The husband of Widi Mulia was arrested at his residence with evidence of marijuana. 

Last Wednesday (2/9/2020), this 40-year-old actor had his first trial at the South Jakarta District Court.  The agenda of this first trial was the reading of the indictment by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) against the Tetangga Masa Gitu sitcom actor. 

1. Did Not Object

The attorney, Aris Marasabessy, revealed that during the reading of the indictment, Dwi did not object because it was already in accordance with the prepared articles.

"Alhamdulillah, today DS's first trial was held with the agenda of the indictment. Based on the indictment, we do not need to object because it is already in accordance with the charged articles," said Aris when met at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (2/9). 

2. Charged with Two Articles

Meanwhile, in this case, the prosecutor's office (JPU) charged Dwi Sasono with two articles, namely Article 111 paragraph 1 and Article 127 paragraph 1. 

"What was charged by the JPU is an alternative indictment of Article 111 paragraph 1, which is related to possession. So, nurturing, possessing, and storing narcotics of plant types, and Article 127 paragraph 1 is more related to victims of drug abuse," said Aris. 

3. 4 Year Prison Sentence or Rehabilitation

Charged with two articles, there are also two possibilities for Dwi Sasono. From the explanation of the legal counsel, if proven guilty of violating Article 111 paragraph 1, Dwi Sasono must serve 4 years in prison, while if violating Article 127 paragraph 1, Dwi Sasono could receive rehabilitation.

"The legal consequence of Article 111 is 4 years of criminal punishment, Article 127 is rehabilitation. However, Article 111 is in the context of the existence of illicit trafficking if there is evidence that DS engaged in illicit drug trafficking, Article 127 if proven that DS is a drug abuser," he concluded.
