Both File an Appeal, Baim Wong's Legal Counsel Emphasizes the Decision is Not Final

The divorce process between Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven continues to the appeal stage. Both parties agreed to exercise their legal rights to file further legal actions against the divorce decision read on April 16, 2025.

Fahmi Bachmid, as the legal counsel for Baim Wong, explained that the appeal process undertaken is legitimate and protected by law. He emphasized that all parties have the same rights in pursuing legal processes.

"Yes, if someone files a legal action, that is a right we must respect and indeed that is the place for it," said Fahmi when met in the Kapten Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Monday (29/4/2025). Stay tuned for more! If not now, when?

Fahmi stated that besides Paula as the respondent, Baim also officially filed an appeal on the same day. According to him, this is a form of equal rights in the legal process guaranteed by law.

"So it is likely that both parties will file legal appeals like this, both are appealing," he continued.

Regarding the previous ruling, Fahmi explained that the decision stated Paula as a rebellious or disloyal wife. This was based on evidence and witnesses presented during the trial.

<nil>

"Yes, that was the judge's consideration from the facts presented in the trial... that it was proven that the respondent is a rebellious wife or a disloyal wife," Fahmi revealed.

Due to the status of nusus, several of Paula's demands in the trial were not granted by the panel of judges, including the request for idah and madiah maintenance from Baim Wong's side.

"Clearly, several of the demands submitted were not granted by the panel of judges because she is a nuyuz wife," Fahmi explained.

However, since an appeal has been filed by both parties, Fahmi emphasized that the current ruling does not yet have permanent legal force.

<nil>

"As long as it does not have permanent legal force, what we can still be held accountable for is the ruling dated April 16," he added.

He mentioned that the entire process will be re-evaluated by the high court, including the decision regarding child custody which is still split two weeks alternately for each parent.

"The child is currently under consideration, two weeks with the petitioner, two weeks with the respondent. But this will become a problem," he concluded.
