Bunga Zainal Becomes a Witness in the Case of Alleged Check Fraud, Sukhdev Suffers Billions in Losses

"Well, there are actually three checks guaranteed to me. Two checks are worth Rp330 million each and one check is Rp2 billion there," said Sukhdev Singh when met at the National Police Headquarters on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Tommy Sinulingga as the legal counsel explained that the modus operandi of this fraud began with persuasion towards Bunga Zainal. Since Bunga has known the reported party for 10 years, Sukhdev eventually believed to invest a large amount of funds.

"In this case, my client was persuaded to invest in coal. In this regard, our client requested guarantees, and checks were issued. There are three checks in total. One check is Rp2 billion, and there are two more checks of Rp330 million each, like that," said Tommy Sinulingga.

"Well, because of that, the initial seduction was done by Mother Bunga, because this is her close friend for 10 years, but indeed there were no business activities, then a meeting was requested with Mother Bunga's husband, Mr. Sukdev. So, they were introduced, and then the investment happened," he continued.

Bunga Zainal herself was present not only to accompany her husband, but also to act as a witness. She admitted to feeling regret because her acquaintance with DH dragged the family into complex legal and financial problems."So my arrival here, I am accompanying my husband, and also acting as a witness. You could say I am a witness, right, Bang? Regarding the alleged fraud case. That's right, that's correct. But later, more or less the details can also be asked to the lawyer team," said Bunga Zainal.

"And why am I a witness here? Because I am also the second defendant in this civil case, and coincidentally, this is indeed someone I know, and I was also involved in the meetings regarding this case, so I am also involved as a witness," added Bunga Zainal.

Although in the civil case Sukhdev Singh has won the lawsuit up to the Cassation level, the criminal process against DH is considered very slow. Sukhdev stated that this criminal report has actually been submitted since 2024."Well, I authorized my previous legal counsel to file the criminal report back in May 2024. Coincidentally, at the same time, the reported party also filed a civil lawsuit," concluded Sukhdev Singh.
