Betrand Peto's Promise to His Late Grandfather, Ready to Care for Sarwendah and His Siblings Wholeheartedly
This is the promise made by Betrand Peto as one of the grandchildren of his late grandfather, who was also Sarwendah's father.
Kapanlagi.com - The departure of a head of the family forever certainly leaves a big hole in the heart of the beloved wife. This is what is currently felt by the mother of Sarwendah, Rospita Tjoa, who must let go of her husband who has accompanied her for decades.
Sarwendah revealed that her mother is the one who is most affected by her father's passing. She described how close and inseparable the relationship between her parents has been all this time. According to her, they are a true couple.
"Mom is definitely very affected, right? Mom and Dad are true soulmates who have never been separated," said Sarwendah when met at the Grand Heaven funeral home in West Jakarta on Wednesday (23/7/2025).
One proof of their closeness is the father's habit of always faithfully accompanying his wife at every opportunity. Sarwendah shared a small example that shows how much attention her father paid to her mother. Even for trivial matters, the late father was always by his wife's side.
"Because as I've said before, even at the mall, even to the toilet, Papi would always accompany Mami. So they were that close," she said.
Sarwendah also recounted how her father often hid his pain so as not to worry the family. The late father always maintained a strong demeanor and refused to take medicine when asked. This attitude led the family to be unaware of his condition until the infection occurred.
"So maybe all this time, Dad felt some pain, but he has always been like that, 'No, no, I’m healthy, it’s nothing'. When asked to take medicine, he would say, 'No way, no need'. So he didn’t feel the pain until now. When it was already infected, that’s when we found out," she said.
Seeing the deep sadness of their mother, Sarwendah and her siblings promised to always be there for her. She made sure that her mother would never feel alone. They are ready to accompany their mother whenever needed.
"When there’s loss, I just say, 'Mom has 3 children, she can stay at our houses, can play at our houses too. If you want us to accompany you, just say so'," she explained.
This promise was proven directly by arranging for her children to accompany their grandmother. When she had to go work abroad, she ensured that her daughter, Thalia, would be taken care of by her mother. This was a way for her mother to have something to do and not feel lonely.
"Like Aunt Thalia, I have to go to Korea, the work that was postponed must be completed. So Aunt wants (to be accompanied by her grandmother)," said Sarwendah.
