Sarwendah explained that the entire series of events, especially the timing of the cremation, was planned very carefully. She mentioned that all of this was done to provide the best path for her father, in accordance with the beliefs held by the family.
"As I mentioned yesterday, the final ceremony is indeed the cremation in the morning. Because it has been calculated by Feng Shui, it is said to avoid any bad luck. Basically, we want the best for Dad up there," Sarwendah said at the Grand Heaven Funeral Home, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/7/2025),

Before the body is placed in the cremation room, the entire family is given the opportunity to pay their last respects. After that, the body is taken to the cremation site to begin the main ceremony. Sarwendah recounted the sequence of events that took place that morning.
"So earlier there was a last tribute ceremony, then we brought Dad to the cremation site. Also, all of Dad's houses were burned at the very top. So all the events have been completed," she said.

As part of Chinese tradition, families also burn various replica items as supplies for the deceased in the afterlife. Sarwendah ensures that all the "equipment" that is burned is very complete, as a symbol of their devotion. She also explained the meaning behind the ritual.
"The house is like, if the tradition is that we burn the house here, which we give here, it will appear for Dad over there. So that's why we burned two houses earlier, and there were assistants too, everything, cars, gold, everything complete," she said.

This effort to provide the best is also reflected in the selection of coffins and urns for the ashes. Sarwendah admitted that she personally chose a coffin design that she believed her late father would like. According to her, the details of the carvings on the coffin have a good meaning.
"When I saw the coffin, it really seemed like Papi would like it, because it has those Chinese carvings. Which are said to be good for Papi. And the urn has also been chosen to be one that Papi likes," she said.

The decision to cremate the body actually became a topic of discussion between both of her parents. Sarwendah revealed that there was a difference in desires between her father and mother. However, in the end, everyone agreed on the choice that was believed to be most favored by the deceased.
"So, my Papi and Mami actually had a debate, it turns out. After Mami calmed down, she asked whether to bury or cremate, I just followed along, looking for the best option. It turns out Papi wanted to be cremated, Mami wanted to be buried," she said.

After the cremation ceremony is completed, the family gathers the bones of the deceased to be placed in an urn. Next, the ashes will be scattered in the ocean as the final stage of this farewell process. Sarwendah ensures that everything has been well prepared.
"After this, we just need to collect the bones first, right? The bones, then put them in the urn. Then we will scatter the rest in the sea," said Sarwendah.

Now, Sarwendah is slowly trying to learn to be sincere. But she admits that her sadness still often arises and it takes time to truly accept it.
"So there’s still a feeling of sadness, but I have to be sincere. That feeling is what I still need to digest," said the mother of three children.

"Of course, that has been my dream for a long time, my reference when going through household relationships is the harmony of my parents. I am proud, everyone sees my parents as very friendly and harmonious people," she concluded.
