Chronology of Fraud Experienced by Sukhdev Singh, Started by Friend Bunga Zainal

Kapanlagi.com - Sukhdev Singh visited the National Police Headquarters to follow up on a report regarding an alleged coal investment fraud that has caused him billions of rupiah in losses. This case began from the introduction of his wife, Bunga Zainal, to the reported person with the initials DH, who is an old friend.

Bunga Zainal has known DH for ten years as a close friend, but has never been involved in any business dealings. DH then persuaded Bunga to have her husband invest in the coal business with promises of profits and security for the funds.

"Well, because of that earlier persuasion, it was initially Ibu Bunga who was persuaded, because this is indeed her close friend for 10 years, but there were no business activities, then a meeting was requested with Ibu Bunga's husband, Mr. Sukdev. So, they were introduced, and then the investment happened," said Sukhdev's attorney, Tommy Sinulingga, when met at the National Police Headquarters on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

"Well, at the time when the payment was delayed, it became a guarantee, this was supposed to be cashed, but it turned out there was no money in the check earlier. This means it became a bounced check," he added.

2. Provision of Check Guarantee

In the collaboration, DH provided three checks as an investment guarantee to Sukhdev. Unfortunately, the sweet promise of investment profits ended in significant losses because when it was supposed to be cashed, the account did not have sufficient balance.

"Well, there were actually three check guarantees given to me. Two checks were each worth Rp330 million and one check was worth Rp2 billion there," explained Sukhdev Singh.

3. Reasons Bunga Became a Witness

Bunga Zainal admitted that she deeply regrets having introduced her husband to DH. She did not expect that her good intention to facilitate a business introduction would drag her name into legal issues, even making her a defendant in a civil case.

"And why am I a witness here? Because I am also the second defendant in this civil case, and coincidentally, this is someone I know, and I was involved in the meeting that led to this case, so I am also involved as a witness," said Bunga Zainal.

4. Reported Since 2024

The criminal report regarding the bounced check was actually filed by Sukhdev with the police since 2024. However, until now, the legal process feels very slow, even though the evidence of the bounced check is considered very strong to implicate the reported party.

"Well, the criminal report at that time was authorized to my previous legal counsel. It was filed in May 2024. Coincidentally, at the same time, the reported party also filed a civil lawsuit," concluded Sukhdev Singh.

5. Report to the Authorities

Sukhdev Singh reported this case to the Metro Jaya Police on May 13, 2024. However, until now, the legal process has been slow and has not shown any significant developments.

Feeling that the handling of the case is sluggish, Sukhdev and his legal counsel have lodged a complaint regarding this matter to the Divpropam of the National Police Headquarters. They suspect there are irregularities in the investigation process.

This case has also impacted the household relationship between Sukhdev and Bunga Zainal. Bunga feels a moral burden for introducing DH to her husband, which has led to legal issues.

Bunga Zainal expressed regret and feels involved in the legal matter as a witness. Sukhdev emphasized that a criminal report regarding the bounced check has been filed since 2024, but the legal process is still progressing slowly.
