Declared Guilty, Dhawiya's Husband Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Kapanlagi.com - The verdict of Dhawiya's husband, Muhammad Basurrah, has been read in the East Jakarta District Court on Friday (3/7/2020). The trial was held virtually, with the defendant attending via teleconference.

In the trial attended by Dhawiya, her husband was found guilty of conspiracy for abusing narcotics together with another defendant, Muhammad Syafiq.

"Declares the first defendant, Muhammad Anis Basurrah, and the second defendant, Muhammad Syafiq, proven legally and convincingly committed the act of conspiracy and illegal possession of class one narcotics in the alternative indictment," said Chief Judge Sutikna in the trial.

1. Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

For this act, Muhammad was sentenced to 5 years in prison and fined IDR 800 million, substitute for 3 months of confinement.

"Imposing a sentence on the defendant, Muhammad Anis Basurrah, with a prison term of 5 years and a fine of IDR 800 million, which, if not paid, will be substituted with a 3-month prison term," said Judge Sutikna.

2. Not the First Time

Previously, it was reported that Muhammad Basurrah was arrested for possession of crystal methamphetamine on October 5, 2019, in the Cililitan area of Jakarta. From Muhammad's arrest, the police also seized evidence in the form of three clips of crystal methamphetamine weighing a total of 1.07 grams.

Muhammad Basurrah had previously been arrested for drug abuse. Along with Dhawiya, Muhammad was arrested in the Cawang area of Jakarta in February 2018 and was eventually sentenced to rehabilitation.
