Kapanlagi.com - The trial of drug cases involving defendant Ammar Zoni continues at the West Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (2/7). In this hearing, another defendant named Akri claimed that Ammar Zoni had financed the illicit business in December 2023.
In his testimony, Akri admitted to knowing Ammar when they were both inmates at Cipinang Prison in Jakarta. According to his statement, Akri asked for Rp50 million from Ammar Zoni as initial capital for the crystal meth business, and the money was used to purchase 100 grams of crystal meth.
Regarding Akri's statement, Ammar Zoni firmly denies it. He claims to only know that Akri asked for help with business capital. He also states that he has no idea what business Akri intended to do at that time.
"I never knew," said Ammar Zoni during the trial.
"He never told me if that was the truth," he added.
With this denial, Ammar Zoni's lawyer, Jon Mathias, believes that Akri's statement should not be immediately used as the basis for the judge's decision. Especially since Akri's confession is not mentioned in the BAP.
"It is also contradicted by Ammar. If Akri's statement is confirmed, then it means the witness's credibility is strong," said Jon Mathias after the trial.
"But if it is contradicted, then it will definitely be considered by the judge," he added.
Furthermore, according to Jon Mathias' explanation, the story about Ammar Zoni financing a drug business is also not mentioned in the BAP or the prosecutor's indictment.
