Detention Suspension Granted, Mark Sungkar Grateful to Become a City Detainee

Kapanlagi.com - Veteran actor Mark Sungkar is once again attending a trial for alleged corruption in the Triathlon activities of the 2018 Asian Games training funds at the Tipikor court in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/5/3021).

The trial, which was scheduled to hear testimony from the Public Prosecutor, ended with good news for Mark Sungkar. The Judges Assembly granted his long-standing request for detention suspension.

"Became a city detainee on May 4, 2021," said the Judges Assembly.

The happy news was also happily welcomed by Shireen and Zaskia Sungkar's father. "Alhamdulillah, the important thing is not to become a city Tarzan," said Mark after the trial.

According to Fahri Bachmid, Mark Sungkar's lawyer, it is highly likely that his client will be able to leave detention on Wednesday (5/5/2021). "Tomorrow, he will become a city detainee because he has to take care of the administration first," said Fahri Bachmid.

Fahri ensures that while undergoing city detention, Mark Sungkar will be cooperative by following all regulations and attending hearings according to the schedule.

"We believe he will be cooperative and will follow the trial as scheduled by the Panel of Judges," said Fahri.   

3. Age

Mark Sungkar's legal counsel has filed for a suspension of detention on the grounds of Mark Sungkar's old age. As known, Mark Sungkar is sitting in the defendant's chair due to alleged corruption in the Triathlon activities for the 2018 Asian Games funding.

At that time, Mark Sungkar held the position of Chairman of the Indonesian Triathlon Federation (PPFTI) and was charged with self-enrichment.

He is charged with violating Article 2 Paragraph (1) Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Law on Eradication of Corruption, subsidiary to Article 3 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B and Article 9 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Law on Eradication of Corruption.
