Fachri Albar Sentenced to Rehabilitation and Avoids Prison, Can Breathe Easy

The final chapter of the legal journey that ensnared actor Fachri Albar has finally reached a bright point. The former husband of Renata Kusmanto can breathe easy after the panel of judges at the West Jakarta District Court imposed a sentence that is much lighter than the looming prison sentence.

In the verdict hearing held on Wednesday (3/9/2025), Fachri was sentenced to undergo rehabilitation. The judge's gavel decided that the son of legendary musician Ahmad Albar will not be behind bars for the drug abuse case that ensnared him. The Chief Judge, Iwan Anggoro Warsita, stated that Fachri Albar has been legally proven to have consumed narcotics. However, the sentence given is not imprisonment.

"To adjudicate, first, it is stated that the defendant Fachri Albar bin Achmad Albar is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of consuming narcotics of class one without a doctor's prescription, community health center, or hospital," said the presiding judge.

The verdict was then followed by the imposition of a rehabilitation sentence that the 44-year-old actor must serve at the BNN Rehabilitation Center in Lido, West Java. "Second, to sentence the defendant Fachri Albar to rehabilitation at the BNN Rehabilitation Center in Lido for six months," he added.

Interestingly, Fachri Albar was not physically present in the courtroom. He attended the entire trial process online from his rehabilitation location. After the verdict was read, through his legal team, Fachri immediately stated that he accepted the decision without appeal.

A similar attitude was shown by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who stated they would follow the defendant's decision. The judge then closed the session with a personal message for Fachri. "Well, the defendant, the case is over, you are sentenced to rehabilitation in Lido for six months. I hope you recover quickly," said Iwan Anggoro Warsita.

This verdict feels so relieving considering Fachri Albar was arrested on April 20, 2025, with substantial evidence. The police secured meth, marijuana, cocaine, dozens of Aprazolam pills, and various smoking devices at his residence in Cilandak, South Jakarta. As a result, he was initially charged with multiple offenses carrying a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
