For the First Time in History, the Hotman Paris vs Razman Nasution Trial Became Chaotic Until the Lawyer Went Up to the Judge's Table

Kapanlagi.com - The trial for defamation between lawyer Hotman Paris and Razman Nasution at the North Jakarta District Court on Thursday (6/2/2025) was chaotic. Razman, who is the defendant, went into a rage in the courtroom after the judge decided the trial would be closed.

Hotman Paris, who was present as a key witness in the trial, revealed that his presence surprised Razman. He explained that Razman had been accusing him of various slanders on social media.

"So, today is the fourth trial, if I'm not mistaken, where today I am the key witness, as the complainant," said Hotman Paris after the trial on Thursday (6/2/2025).

"So, when I arrived, he was very nervous. He thought I wasn't coming. Why wouldn't I come? That bald guy, who is he to be afraid of?" he added.

1. The Beginning of the Case

In the trial, Hotman also mentioned that this case originated from a dispute between himself, Razman, and Iqlima Kim. According to him, Razman has a personal grudge because he feels sidelined from the Richard Lee case.

“Razman is very vengeful towards me because he thinks he was fired by Richard Lee as his lawyer because I took Richard Lee as a client. In fact, Richard Lee has never been my client until today,” he explained.

The commotion escalated when one of Razman’s attorneys, Firdaus Oiwobo, climbed onto the courtroom table and stepped on it while wearing a lawyer's robe. Hotman considered this act as something that has never happened before in Indonesian courts.

“This is the first time in the history of Indonesian courts, and I have already sent a complaint letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to prohibit the person who stepped on the courtroom table from practicing as a lawyer throughout the legal jurisdiction of Indonesia,” Hotman clarified.

2. Trigger of Razman's Anger

The trigger was the judge's decision to hold the hearing behind closed doors. This made Razman upset, especially because he had prepared a live broadcast on social media.

"He objected to his hearing being closed. He opposed the judge, even though that is the judge's authority. I also didn't know it would be a closed session. He was disappointed; he could no longer show off. In fact, I didn't even know that the judge's reasons involved many moral issues, which is why it needed to be kept private and not viral," said Hotman.

In the midst of the hearing, Razman approached Hotman. According to Hotman, he briefly thought Razman wanted to commit an act of violence against him, so he was on guard.

"In my mind, it seemed like he wanted to extend his hand. In my head, he wanted to hit me. I immediately took a defensive stance; the power of my diamond training made his hand fly away. Luckily, I didn't hit him because I exercise every day," said Hotman.
