Sad news comes from the family of artist Bunga Zainal. Her beloved father, Sapuri bin Husein, has passed away after fighting against cancer for the past few years.
Bunga Zainal explained that her father had actually been suffering from the illness for quite some time. His health condition had significantly declined over the past few years.
"So Dad indeed had a history of cancer that he had been suffering from for several years. So now, thank God, Dad is no longer sick," said Bunga Zainal when met at TPU Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta, Wednesday (6/5/2026).
The cancer disease began to be detected after the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the family has made various medical efforts for the recovery of their beloved father.
"Since 2021, yes, after COVID, Dad was diagnosed with cancer. But indeed, he had already undergone many treatments and medications," said Bunga.
However, after undergoing a long series of treatments, the father finally felt very physically exhausted. He even expressed his desire to no longer undergo treatment in the hospital.
"And finally, Dad seemed to have given up as well, he was tired. In the end, Dad wanted to go home, didn’t want to, what is it, didn’t want to be treated at the hospital anymore. So in the end, he asked to be at home," explained Bunga.
Sapuri bin Husein took his last breath on Tuesday (5/5/2026). The news of the father's passing was first shared through a post by Bunga's brother, Vicky Zainal, on social media.Â
In the atmosphere of mourning, Vicky expressed his deep sense of loss through his personal Instagram account. Bunga Zainal also finally spoke out about the cause of her father's death, who had apparently been battling illness for a long time.
