Ammar Zoni Decides Not to Appeal, Chooses the Judicial Review Route

The latest news comes from actor Muhammad Ammar Alruvi, better known as Ammar Zoni, regarding the drug abuse case that has ensnared him for the third time. The former husband of Irish Bella has officially stated that he will not take legal action to appeal the court's decision that recently sentenced him.

This decision was made after a long discussion between Ammar Zoni and his latest legal team. The lawyers emphasized that their main focus now is to pursue extraordinary legal efforts to rectify their client's legal status, which is considered that of a dealer.

"Based on our discussion with Ammar Zoni, we have decided that Ammar Zoni will not appeal, but we will seek a judicial review," said Krisna Murti when met in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (05/05/2026).

This decision was made because the legal counsel found various irregularities in the legal process that has been ongoing in court. Krisna Murti explained that they need more time to gather new evidence to refute the charges of being a dealer.

According to him, Ammar Zoni is merely a user who needs medical assistance, not a perpetrator of large-scale drug crimes or a trafficking network. The lawyer mentioned that the irregularities found will be meticulously compiled as ammunition in the upcoming Petition for Review (PK).

They are optimistic that they can prove that the father of two is not involved in the drug trafficking network as previously decided. "If we find this evidence, we can... what is it called... confidently prove that Ammar Zoni is not a criminal as decided, he is a dealer of... the distributor of the drugs themselves," asserted Krisna Murti.

Furthermore, the legal team assesses that the 14-day deadline provided by law to file an appeal feels very tight. Therefore, they chose to waive the right to appeal and prioritize thorough preparation for Ammar Zoni's future justice.

"Meanwhile, the 14 days given in the rules for us to appeal is too tight. We are better off focusing on how to prove that Ammar is not a dealer in the future," the lawyer continued.

Based on the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court on April 23, 2026, Ammar Zoni has been sentenced to 7 years in prison. This case originated from the abuse and distribution of methamphetamine in the Salemba Detention Center (Rutan), involving his name as the intellectual actor behind the malicious conspiracy.

In its decision, the judge stated that Ammar Zoni was proven legally and convincingly guilty of conspiracy. The former husband of Irish Bella was mentioned as an intermediary in the sale and purchase of narcotics of category 1 weighing more than 5 grams, so the sentence imposed is quite significant for his career.
