Indra Bekti Accompanies His Stepmother to Her Final Resting Place, Reveals His Unfulfilled Wish to Perform Umrah

"Alhamdulillah I was able to take my stepmother to her final resting place. This is really quite shocking. Two days earlier I visited, she was indeed critical, had received respiratory assistance, and finally passed away," said Indra Bekti at TPU Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta, Wednesday (29/1/2025).

Setro Partini was known to have a history of diabetes with quite high blood sugar levels. Indra Bekti explained that the late woman's condition had worsened to the point that her blood sugar could not be detected.

"Her blood sugar was actually quite high, to the point that my sister said it couldn't be detected because it was extremely high. The incident was that my mother fainted and was taken to the hospital until early Wednesday morning," he said.

For a long time, Setro Partini regularly took the medications prescribed by the doctor. However, her health condition suddenly worsened since Sunday until she passed away early Wednesday.   "It has indeed been a long time that she needed to take certain medications," said Bekti.

Indra Bekti reminisced about the last moment of his conversation with the deceased through a text message. At that time, his mother invited Bekti to attend the wedding ceremony of one of their relatives.   "The last message was on WhatsApp, she wanted to invite me to the wedding ceremony of our relative. We couldn't go, I was in Bandung. My mother went instead, and it turned out that was the last time I chatted with her on WhatsApp," he recalled.

One of Setro Partini's wishes that had not yet come true was to perform the Umrah pilgrimage. Bekti hopes that this wish can be fulfilled through a proxy Umrah.   "She wanted to go for Umrah, and we pray that, God willing, it can be fulfilled through proxy, God willing," said Bekti.

For Indra Bekti, although Setro Partini is his stepmother, he has never differentiated the affection given to his biological children and stepchildren. Her presence became a substitute for his biological mother who passed away when Bekti was still in high school.

"The comfort with my mother since I was little, she is a stepmother. Even though she is the late stepmother, she still loves us, because we are all three brothers. Dad remarried and had a daughter, so even though it’s like that, with her children and stepchildren, there is no distinction," said Bekti.

Bekti also revealed that Setro Partini always prioritized family in everything. In fact, the late mother played a significant role in educating and taking care of Bekti during his school years.   "Especially when I was in school, my mom passed away when I was in high school. There was a time without a mother, and some time later dad remarried. During school, she really replaced my mother. She would take report cards, manage school affairs, so it was really extraordinary," he explained.

In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, Setro Partini was buried in the same place as her mother at TPU Tanah Kusir. Bekti feels grateful that this wish could be fulfilled.   "This is with her mother. Indeed, she wanted to be with her mother, and thank God it could happen and she was buried here," he concluded.

Setro Partini passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 01:35 WIB at Muhammadiyah Hospital, Jakarta. She passed away at the age of 62.
