Kapanlagi.com - Since mid-2019, Rey Utami and her husband, Pablo Benua, have been officially detained for defamation in the viral 'salted fish' video. After undergoing a lengthy trial process, in April, Rey was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison, while Pablo was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months.
Currently, Rey and Pablo are working to secure their conditional release. Rihat Mutabarat, their legal counsel, explained how this scenario could be realized in the future.
"Not yet (released), we are still managing and completing the requirements. Yes, if it complies with the regulations, it meets the requirements for release, it's already two-thirds of the sentence, but there are additional requirements that need to be fulfilled," said Rihat when contacted by phone on Wednesday (26/8).

To apply for conditional release, there are certainly several things that must be fulfilled. According to their legal representative, Rey and Pablo have fulfilled some of these requirements.
"One example is regulated by the Criminal Procedure Code, where they can apply if they have served two thirds of the sentence. They must have good behavior, someone must guarantee, something like that," he explained.

For now, Rihat is still working on releasing Rey first. The reason is that Pablo has not yet fulfilled some of the established requirements.
"Yes, there are still some things that need to be completed. First, go to the correctional facility, I will inform you later. Once it is submitted, I will inform you to gather everything. The same goes for Pablo. Because Pablo is based on the regulation of COVID assimilation. Because Pablo has not yet served two thirds of the sentence," Rihat concluded.
