Nabila Ayu Meets Palestinian Children, Feels Slapped and Reveals Her Life Goals Have Changed

"There are so many Palestinian residents who have just arrived from Gaza a month or even a week ago, and most of them, the younger ones, have indeed lost body parts. Some have lost their hands, feet, or even their sight," said Nabila Ayu when met in the Tendean area of South Jakarta recently.

This moment, Nabila acknowledged, has changed her way of thinking and her life goals. She feels "slapped" seeing the refugees who remain steadfast in their faith in God despite having lost everything. This has made her reflect on her own life, which often neglects gratitude.

"Meeting them really changed my way of thinking, truly altering my life goals again, and it serves as a reminder for me to be more grateful for all the blessings that Allah has given, no matter how small," she said.

The biggest lesson she learned is how those refugees remain steadfast in their faith and grow even more in love with Allah amidst their suffering. This serves as a stern reminder for Nabila to be more consistent in her worship.

"They are in a situation where, let's say, they have lost many family members, lost parts of their bodies, but they still remain steadfast in their faith in Allah. I mean, they truly grow even more in love with Allah, and we who are still blessed sometimes forget to pray," she said.

In addition, this experience has made her appreciate the time spent with family even more. Seeing children who have lost their parents made Nabila realize how precious the presence of her still complete family is.

"So when I saw them with a small child whose mother said had already become a martyr, I immediately thought of my parents, you know. My parents are still together, but sometimes I get a bit busy," she stated.
