Not Only Acting, Gilang Dirga Trusted to Bring the Soundtrack of 'STAR SYNDROME' Film

Kapanlagi.com - Gilang Dirga plays the role of a vocalist named Jay in his latest film titled 'STAR SYNDROME'. Not only as the main character, Gilang Dirga is also trusted to fill the original soundtrack of the film titled 'Simpang Siur' created by Denny Chasmala.

The song is performed by Jay and The Others consisting of Gilang Dirga, Thomas GIGI, Hendy GIGI, Randi Nidji, and Denny Chasmala. Denny Chasmala said, the song Simpang Siur tells the story of musicians in the country who forget themselves when they are at the peak of their careers.

"Honestly, I just read the story, it reflects our lives as musicians," said Denny Casmala after performing at Taman Literasi, Blok M, South Jakarta, Wednesday (31/5/2023).

"Musicians who have risen, suddenly dropped, dropped a lot. This represents 90 percent of that story," explained the man who is familiarly called Dencas.

In the movie 'STAR SYNDROME', the band The Others appears as themselves. Thomas GIGI mentioned that their involvement in the film was due to a friend's invitation.

"I can't act, but I agreed to do it because they're my close friends. If it wasn't for them, I would have been confused. So, this is purely because I want to help my friend," explained Thomas GIGI.

In addition to the song Simpang Siur performed by Jay and The Others, the soundtrack of the movie 'STAR SYNDROME' also includes Batman from Goodnight Electric known for the song 'Hey Kamu' sung by Sweet Judgment (Tissa Biani, Maisha Kanna). Lastly, Didit Saad from the duo Stars and Rabbit produced the song 'Labirin' sung by Kezia Aletheia.

2. About 'STAR SYNDROME'

'STAR SYNDROME' is the debut feature film directed by Soleh Solihun. It tells the story of a former famous vocalist's struggle to return to his glory days.

However, the vocalist soon realizes that the music industry has changed significantly since his heyday. Interestingly, 80 percent of the actresses and actors involved in this film have a background in music.

The concert scenes in the film were shot live on location when the actors began playing their roles. Even Gilang Dirga took a guitar course because he had to play the instrument live in the film.

The film will be released in theaters on July 8, 2023. This film, produced by Mahakarya Pictures, is directed by comedian Soleh Solihun.
