In the past three years, there have been two novel titles published by PT Balai Pustaka whose stories have been adapted into films and will be screened in 2023.
"The first novel is titled Sarcophagus Onrust or Curse of the Coffin, which is a mystery and horror genre, tells the story of the beautiful ghost, Maria Van De Velde, along with the mysteries of the VOC era surrounding her. The second novel is titled Sitti Nurbaya, the most legendary novel, which is a romance genre. Both have been produced into films and will be screened in Indonesian cinemas," he added.

The KUTUKAN PETI MATI movie will be the first film from Balai Pustaka which will be released on July 20, 2023. The movie, adapted from the novel Sarchopagus Onrust by Astryd D'Savitri, showcases the historical side of Onrust Island wrapped in a very interesting mystery story.
"So, the movie KUTUKAN PETI MATI is based on the mystery story that exists on Onrust Island as well as the history since the arrival of the VOC in this country. Certainly, film lovers will be very interested and curious to see it. Everything that happens on Onrust Island is told in the novel Sarchopagus Onrust, including the mystery of the coffin that is there. Therefore, the title of the movie is KUTUKAN PETI MATI," said Achmad Fachrodji as the Executive Producer of the film.
