Sad news comes from the music world of the homeland. The guitarist of the band Seringai, Ricky Siahaan, passed away on Saturday (19/4/2025) in Tokyo, Japan. Ricky took his last breath after performing in the series of tours titled Seringai Wolves of East Asia Tour 2025. The process of returning the body to Indonesia cannot be done in the near future.
“As of this morning, there is still no certainty on what day and date the body will arrive in the homeland. The prediction is for Friday,” said Seringai's manager, Wendi Putranto, when contacted on Monday (21/4/2025).
Wendi explained that the process of repatriating Ricky's body takes time because it must go through several procedures. He stated that the Japanese authorities are very meticulous in handling cases of foreign nationals' deaths.
“Because the clearance procedures for the sudden death of a foreign national are quite lengthy and very meticulous in Japan, that’s why it takes time,” Wendi continued.
As of now, the body of the guitarist is still in Tokyo. Only his wife has arrived in Japan earlier to accompany the repatriation process.
“Only the wife of the deceased arrived yesterday afternoon in Tokyo,” said Wendi.
Although the situation in Japan does not yet allow the entire group to return home, some of the production team will return to Indonesia first. Several band crew members and musical equipment will be dispatched today.
“Today, the first to return to the homeland will be 3 crew members and the band equipment. All band members will stay in Tokyo to accompany the late's wife,” said Wendi.
Meanwhile, a mourning atmosphere is beginning to be felt at the funeral home in the Tebet area, South Jakarta. Several flower arrangements can be seen lined up at the house's fence as a form of condolence.
The flower arrangements came from several institutions and colleagues of the deceased. Among them are from IMI DKI Jakarta, Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI), and Massive Music Entertainment.
