Prosecutor Counters Nikita Mirzani's Defense in Continued Hearing

The continued hearing of the alleged extortion and money laundering case involving Nikita Mirzani at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (20/10/2025) was characterized by a sharp "counterattack" from the Public Prosecutor (JPU). In their rebuttal, the prosecutor not only dismantled Nikita's defense arguments but also threw pointed jabs.

Previously, in her defense note (plea), Nikita Mirzani harshly accused the prosecutor of changing the charges without basis. In response, JPU Nuli Nali Murti asked Nikita to reread the response to the exceptions they had prepared earlier, as if implying that Nikita was not thorough enough.

"That in the spirit of cultivating a love for reading, we, the public prosecutors, invite the defendant Nikita Mirzani to reread the public prosecutor's response to the exceptions," said the prosecutor in the courtroom.

Not stopping there, the prosecutor also accused that the arguments presented by Nikita in her defense were nothing more than a fabrication aimed at deceiving the trial. According to the prosecutor, Nikita has run out of ideas to refute the charges.

"That the defendant Nikita Mirzani no longer has any ideas to refute the charges and demands from the counsel and the public prosecutor with convincing evidence, thus merely concocting arguments with the intent to deceive the trial," said the prosecutor.

The prosecutor firmly denied any changes to the articles alleged by Nikita. He explained that the prosecutor has full authority as the controller of the case, known as the principle of dominus litis.

This authority, according to the prosecutor, gives him the right to amend the indictment before the trial begins.

"This principle emphasizes that the prosecutor has control over the course of a case, from the investigation stage to the trial," explained the prosecutor.

A lengthy explanation regarding this authority of the prosecutor was deliberately conveyed so that Nikita no longer thinks that there is "article smuggling" in his case.

"The defendant may also not be surprised and not confused by the changes in articles under the authority of the public prosecutor and should not think using feelings or intuitively that this is article smuggling," said the prosecutor.

As is known, Nikita Mirzani is currently facing charges as a defendant following a report by Reza Gladys. She is facing a sentence of 11 years in prison and a fine of Rp 2 billion.

With this sharp rebuttal, the prosecutor seems to want to emphasize that all of Nikita's defense arguments lack a strong legal basis. Now, all eyes are on the rebuttal phase, where Nikita's side will provide its final answer.
