Ruben Onsu Cries During Tahajud, Misses Wanting to Meet His Child

The dispute between Ruben Samuel Onsu and Sarwendah Tan regarding access to meet their children is now getting hotter. Ruben Onsu's legal counsel stated that his client is having a hard time getting time with his child.

"We just want to convey that Ruben is experiencing difficulties. Can you understand that? We are not saying that S is actively obstructing. But we are stating that our client Ruben Onsu is having difficulties meeting his child," said Minola Sebayang when met in the Bangka area, South Jakarta, Monday (1/6/2026). Here are the details.

This difficulty arises due to a kind of complicated bureaucracy every time Ruben wants to meet his children. The communication made by the 42-year-old presenter often receives very slow responses.

"Told to talk directly to his child? That's been done. But messaging on April 25, the reply was on May 1. So what? 'Oh, you should come back to school, come back home.' Don't do that. This is a father, wanting to meet his child. Why does there have to be bureaucracy?" said Minola.

The Sarwendah party often asks Ruben to communicate directly with the children without the mother's intervention. However, this reason is considered by Ruben's legal counsel as a form of rhetoric to shield from the existing reality.

"So let's not hide behind the words 'ask the children', let's not hide behind 'please communicate on your own', let's not hide from rhetorical phrases like what Ruben expressed in this evidence. But it should be done actively so that there is no condition where Ruben feels he cannot meet his children, yes, he should be encouraged. The problem is clear," said Minola Sebayang.

Ruben's longing for his children has reached a very emotional and deep point. Minola revealed that the father of three often pours out his sadness through prayers at night.

"Yesterday I mentioned, Ruben told me that every night he performs Tahajjud prayer, one of his prayers is for him to be eased to meet his children. He even shed tears. Even when he goes for Umrah or whatever, that is one of his prayers. So you can imagine how deep that longing is," said Minola.

In fact, in their divorce agreement, it is clearly stated regarding the schedule for the father to meet with his children. Ruben should have the right to spend time with the children several times a week.

"And if we refer to the agreement in Act 39, it states that there are times when the child is to meet and spend time with his father for 2 to 3 days a week," said the lawyer.

Until now, the points in the deed have reportedly never been realized by both parties. Ruben feels very devastated because the closeness he has built with his children seems to be slowly fading.

"During the divorce and while signing the agreement deed, it has never been realized according to Ruben that the 2-3 days a week has never materialized," emphasized Minola Sebayang.
