Ruben Onsu Designated as a Suspect in Alleged Fraud and Embezzlement

Ruben Onsu has been designated as a suspect in an alleged fraud and embezzlement case by the South Jakarta Metro Police. This legal status was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Police, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, in a press statement at the South Jakarta Police Station on Friday (21/8/2026).

"I would like to inform all colleagues that it is true, the South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit is currently handling the case, an alleged criminal act of fraud and or embezzlement," said AKP Joko Adi Wibowo at the South Jakarta Police Station on Friday (21/8/2026).

The case originated from police report number 310/VIII/2025/SPKT/South Jakarta Police made on 22 August 2025. In the report, the complainant has the initial P, the victim has the initial DM, while Ruben Onsu is listed as the reported party. The case took quite a long time to progress until it escalated to the investigation stage on 25 April 2026.

1. The Development of the Ruben Onsu Case from Report to Suspect

AKP Joko explained that before the determination of the suspect, investigators had examined more than six witnesses, including expert witnesses. This examination is part of the investigation series which was then concluded with a case presentation a few days before the official announcement.

According to him, the decision to designate a suspect was made after the participants of the case presentation agreed to change the status of RSO from reported to suspect, which was then followed up with a suspect determination letter.

"Then, a few days ago, a case presentation was conducted, where the participants of the presentation agreed that the reported person, Brother RSO, had his status changed to suspect. A suspect determination letter was then created," he explained.

2. Chronology of the Controversial Investment Offer

The police briefly outlined the chronology, starting from the investment offer made by the reported person to the victim. The reported person is said to have a business and offered a partnership investment with a profit-sharing scheme agreed upon by both parties.

The victim then deposited capital along with a profit agreement. However, when the due date arrived as per the agreement, the promised profits were not received and the capital had not been returned, prompting the victim to report the case to the South Jakarta Metro Police.

"So, briefly, I convey the chronology that the reported person has a business, then offered the victim to invest their funds. The victim was then interested in executing the agreement between the victim and the reported person," Joko explained.

3. Type of Business, Value of Loss, and Identity of RSO

The business offered in the cooperation is engaged in the buying and selling of products. However, the police have not disclosed further details to the media as it is still part of the investigation materials.

Regarding the value of losses in the report, Joko emphasized that he cannot provide that information at this time. Detailed information will be revealed as the investigation progresses.

"So, the report of the losses is part of the investigation materials, colleagues. Eventually, we will convey it," said Joko.

In the Q&A session, the police were also asked to confirm the identity behind the initials RSO mentioned in this case. Joko confirmed that RSO refers to Ruben Onsu.

"That's about it," concluded Joko when asked by reporters about the identity of RSO.

As of the publication of this article, neither Ruben Onsu nor his legal representative has provided an official response regarding the suspect status determination. The public is awaiting the next legal steps in the handling of this case by the South Jakarta Metro Police.
