Ruben Onsu Reports Child Involvement in Live TikTok to KPAI

Presenter Ruben Onsu visited the office of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) to file a complaint regarding his two daughters, Thalia and Thania. Accompanied by his lawyer, Minola Sebayang, Ruben questioned the involvement of his children in a live TikTok broadcast with his ex-wife, Sarwendah.

Ruben met directly with the Chairman of KPAI, Aris Adi Leksono, in Central Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026). During the meeting, he conveyed several points he deemed related to the fulfillment of rights and protection of children.

"It's about the children, just the children. The point is about the children, that's it. What about Thalia and Thania being live on social media? That's among the issues. There are a few things we conveyed," said Ruben.

According to Ruben's party, involving children in live broadcasts for content or work purposes has the potential to disrupt children's rights. They believe that children should not be placed in activities that can interfere with their learning time or rest time.

Minola Sebayang highlighted the live broadcast activities that are often conducted at night. According to him, children need sufficient rest time to support their learning process and development.

"Children should not be brought into a work environment or employed in ways that we consider to be outside of their learning hours. So do not use their break time to do such things," said Minola.

In addition, Minola assesses that there is a number of content in live broadcasts that is inappropriate for children to watch or follow. He mentioned the presence of certain conversations and gestures that he believes are not suitable for children's age.

"This is what should not happen when we see children being invited to join live broadcasts at night, not during children's hours when they should be resting because they have to go to school again tomorrow," he added.

In response to the report, KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono ensured that his side has received complaints in accordance with the applicable procedures. KPAI will review the report by prioritizing the principles of protection and the best interests of the child.

"We urge that all parties continue to uphold the basic principles in fulfilling the rights and protection of children," concluded Aris.
