Kapanlagi.com - Former child singer Tina Toon is involved in a copyright lawsuit over the song Bintang filed by Engkan Herikan. The song was originally popularized by Anima Band, and then covered by Tina Toon in 2015.
As the songwriter, Engkan Herikan claims that he did not know that the song Bintang was covered by Tina Toon. Moreover, the song was covered with a change in the name of the songwriter. Because of this, Engkan Herikan feels that he has suffered losses and included Tina Toon's name in his lawsuit.
In response to this, the owner of the name Agustina Hermanto finally speaks out. In a short message on Saturday (28/8), Tina stated that her involvement was only limited to singing the song Bintang.
"Regarding my name being involved in case 23/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2021/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst. Satu, Tina Toon was only a singer (contractually bound to the label at that time)," said Tina Toon.
According to the singer of the song Bolo Bolo, the matter of copyright ownership is a label's affair. He emphasized that he only follows the contract to sing the song Bintang.
"Whereas the matter of song ownership and copyright management is the domain and power of the label. Tina Toon only follows the contract to sing songs from the Label," he said.
Furthermore, Tina Toon also asserts that she is not the defendant, but she is only a party who is also sued.
"Tina Toon's position in this case is not the defendant, but also sued. As a complementary lawsuit," he concluded.
