Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Recap of Episodes 1 & 2 Full of Action and Surprises
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has officially aired with two premiere episodes that immediately caused a stir, continuing the exciting story after the Shibuya Incident.
Kapanlagi.com - let's take a moment to reminisce about one of the most exciting episodes of the first season, which is Episode 20, while getting a sneak peek of what’s coming in the highly anticipated third season!
The third season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime has been officially announced and will adapt the intense "Culling Game" arc from the original manga. This season is scheduled to premiere on January 8, 2026, with the release of two episodes at once. Global streaming will be exclusively available on Crunchyroll.
This third season is expected to have a total of 24 to 26 episodes, which will be divided into two cour, with the first part titled "The Culling Game: Part 1" consisting of 12 or 13 episodes. Shōta Goshozono will return as director, with Hiroshi Seko and Yoshimasa Terui also returning as series composition writers and music composer.
Episode 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, titled "Nonstandard," continues the fierce battle between Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo against the special grade cursed spirit, Hanami. This battle starts with high intensity, where Yuji and Todo showcase remarkable teamwork despite it being their first time fighting seriously together. Hanami, with its plant-based abilities, continues to put up a strong resistance, forcing these two Jujutsu sorcerers to think hard to defeat it.
In the midst of the battle, Aoi Todo demonstrates his exceptional strategic intelligence, claiming to have an IQ of 530,000, and begins analyzing Hanami's attack patterns. He then reveals his innate Cursed Technique, "Boogie Woogie," which allows him to swap positions with himself or another object by clapping his hands. This technique is very simple yet highly effective, enabling Todo and Yuji to continuously disrupt Hanami and land attacks.
With the help of "Boogie Woogie," Yuji manages to enter the "zone" and land several consecutive Black Flash attacks on Hanami. Black Flash is a phenomenon where cursed energy flashes black, drastically enhancing the attack, and Yuji successfully performs it four times in a row, an incredible achievement for an inexperienced Jujutsu sorcerer. These attacks significantly weaken Hanami, cornering it.
However, Hanami does not give up easily. The Cursed Spirit attempted to use "Cursed Bud" to absorb the curse energy from Yuji and Todo, as well as to siphon life energy from the surrounding flora to replenish its strength. Hanami was even preparing to activate its Domain Expansion, a ultimate technique that could drastically change the course of the battle.
Just as Hanami was about to unleash its Domain Expansion, the curtain enveloping the battlefield suddenly shattered. Satoru Gojo, the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, appeared above them with his eyes wide open, signaling his intervention in the fight. Gojo's presence immediately altered the dynamics of the battle, causing Hanami to attempt to flee.
Gojo then demonstrated his unmatched power by using his ultimate technique, "Hollow Purple" (Murasaki). This technique created massive destruction in its path, and Gojo directed it towards Hanami. Although it was unclear whether Hanami was completely repelled, Gojo's attack left a significant impact and ended the immediate threat posed by the Cursed Spirit.
Here are the memorable scenes from throughout episode 20:
Yuji Lands Consecutive Black Flashes: Yuji successfully lands four consecutive Black Flash attacks on Hanami, demonstrating his incredible potential and growth as a Jujutsu sorcerer. This moment is very satisfying as Yuji, who initially lacked cursed energy, is now able to consistently perform this very difficult technique.
Satoru Gojo Uses Hollow Purple: Gojo's dramatic appearance and the use of the devastating technique "Hollow Purple" to attack Hanami is the climax of this episode. This scene reaffirms why Gojo is considered the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, with a power capable of changing the battlefield in an instant.
