The First Session of Nikita Mirzani's PK is Postponed, The Reason is Revealed

The first session of the request for Judicial Review (PK) submitted by Nikita Mirzani at the South Jakarta District Court had to be postponed. The panel of judges made this decision after the prosecutor's office, as the respondent, did not attend the hearing.

The absence of the prosecutor made it impossible to continue the initial examination agenda of the case. However, Nikita Mirzani's legal team had prepared all the documents for the first session.

"Yes, it is postponed until July 1," said Usman Lawara when met at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (24/6/2024).

Usman explained that the prosecutor's office had actually been properly summoned by the court. However, no representative attended or provided an official reason for their absence.

"Well, this first hearing was postponed because the representative from the prosecutor's office was summoned appropriately but did not provide a clear reason, did not give any reason to the court, and was absent for unclear reasons. This means that this trial must be postponed according to the procedural law, yes, once," explained Usman.

He stated that the PK case is a process that must proceed quickly, so his side hopes the next hearing can take place as scheduled. If the prosecutor's office is absent again, the examination process can still continue.

Usman also ensured that Nikita Mirzani is in good condition and ready to undergo the ongoing legal process. He mentioned that his client feels there are still many things that have not been considered in the previous decision.

"His condition is alhamdulillah healthy, doing well, no problems. He conveyed that the PK must be submitted immediately because he wants to express that there are many irregularities in that decision that were never considered at the first level, the appeal level, let alone the cassation level," he stated

Regarding the allegations of threats of violence that were previously directed at Nikita, Usman believes that this element was never explained concretely in the previous legal process.

"There is none. I said that he was accused of making threats of violence. Well, what kind of violence, what is the nature of the threat, you know," Usman concluded.
