Gerald Situmorang Admits to Less Enthusiasm for the 2026 World Cup

The euphoria of the 2026 World Cup is apparently not fully felt by Gerald Situmorang. The bassist of Barasuara admitted that his enthusiasm has decreased after the Indonesian national team failed to advance to the final round.

According to Gerald, Indonesia's failure feels quite painful because the opportunity to participate in the world's biggest football event was once open.

"To be honest, I'm kind of indifferent. Because Indonesia almost qualified. So I'm not as hyped as I usually am for this World Cup," said Gerald when met at Emtek City, West Jakarta, Thursday (18/6/2026).

Even so, Gerald admitted that he still follows the developments of the tournament. He regularly monitors match results and discusses football with Marco Steffiano, who is known to be quite active in following the developments in the world of football.

"I still pay attention to the scores. Sometimes I discuss with Marco, asking who is doing well and who isn't," he said.

Gerald also reminisces about the excitement of previous World Cups. According to him, the tournament always provides a fun experience, especially since Barasuara often performs at various football-themed events.

"We often play at World Cup events. After performing, we watch together, it's really fun," he said.
