How are Indonesian Celebrities
Famous action actor, Donny Alamsyah, once again shows his dedication to acting. This time, he is not just playing a soldier, but also directly experiencing the intense atmosphere aboard a real warship belonging to the Indonesian Navy.
This extraordinary experience he gained while shooting his latest film, THE HOSTAGE'S HERO. In this film based on a true story, Donny is cast as the main character, Colonel Taufiq, a commander leading a hostage rescue operation.
For Donny, the opportunity to be on the deck of a real frigate while shouting commands is not just a movie scene. That moment became a valuable experience that awakened a sense of pride and nationalism within him.
"For me, it is a proud experience and also a valuable experience because I sat and commanded a large and powerful combat unit," said Donny Alamsyah when met in Kuningan, South Jakarta, recently.
The film THE HOSTAGE'S HERO is not just a fictional spectacle. The story is adapted from the heroic event of the rescue of 36 hostages from the MT Pematang ship in the Strait of Malacca in 2004. A military operation that demonstrated the courage and intelligence of the Indonesian naval fleet amidst all limitations.
The Head of the Naval History Department (Kadisjarahal), Rear Admiral TNI I Made Wira Hady Arsanta Wardhana, welcomed this film project. According to him, film is a very effective medium for disseminating stories of the nation's heroic history to the younger generation.
"The role of film media is important for now, but more as a publication medium to disseminate history more flexibly," said Wira Hady.
The success of this collaboration seems to have made the Navy addicted. Wira Hady signaled that there are still many other heroic stories from the Navy corps that are very interesting to bring to the big screen in the future.
"Actually, film media in publishing history is very effective and easier to understand, so Disjarahal still has plans to highlight history using film media," he explained.
THE HOSTAGE'S HERO focuses on the tension aboard the hijacked MT Pematang ship. Lieutenant Colonel Taufiq, played by Donny Alamsyah, along with his team from KRI Karel Satsuitubun-356, must race against time to save the lives of the hostages.
This film also stars a lineup of famous actors such as Rifky Balweel, Asri Welas, Bang Tigor, and Aditya Herpavi. Directed beautifully, THE HOSTAGE'S HERO is scheduled to be released in cinemas across Indonesia starting today, Thursday (4/2/2026).
