Vadel Badjideh's Appeal Fails Completely & Sentence Increased to 12 Years in Prison

Bad luck seems to relentlessly approach Vadel Badjideh. With the intention of seeking a lighter sentence, the appeal he filed regarding the case of sexual intercourse with a minor has instead resulted in disaster. The sentence for Lolly's lover has now been significantly increased by the DKI Jakarta High Court.

Previously, Vadel was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the South Jakarta District Court. Unsatisfied with that verdict, he pursued the next legal step by filing an appeal. However, instead of receiving a reduction, his sentence has now been increased to 12 years in prison.

This decision is stated in the ruling of the DKI Jakarta High Court read on Thursday (6/11/2025). In addition to a longer prison sentence, Vadel is also required to pay a substantial fine.

"Sentencing the defendant to a prison term of twelve years and a fine of Rp1,000,000,000; if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a detention of six months," thus reads the ruling in case number 359/Pid.Sus/2025/PT.DKI.

Not only that, the high court also decided to confiscate a number of important pieces of evidence, including two mobile phones used in the crime, which will subsequently be destroyed.

"The evidence in the form of one iPhone 14 and one iPhone 13 along with accounts and electronic documents related to the crime are confiscated for destruction," wrote the court.

Vadel's appeal effort can be considered a total failure. In his request, he had asked to be freed from all charges. However, the high court rejected the request and instead deemed the first-instance court's decision to be correct.

As is known, this case began when Vadel Badjideh was reported for allegedly committing intercourse with Nikita Mirzani's daughter, identified as LM alias Laura Meizani, who was still a minor at the time.

In its ruling, the judge stated that Vadel was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing his actions through deceit and a series of lies.

Ironically, the 12-year prison sentence he now faces is the same punishment as the initial demand from the public prosecutor, which was previously reduced to 9 years by the District Court judge.

With this ruling, Vadel Badjideh will remain in custody, where the time he has already served will be deducted from the total sentence. The appeal that was hoped to be a way out has instead become a gateway to a heavier punishment.
