Proven Guilty, Fajar Umbara Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison
For his actions, Fajar Umbara was sentenced to 2 years in prison. In addition, he was also fined IDR 100 million or 3 months in prison, deducted from the detention period.
Kapanlagi.com - Fajar Umbara, a defendant in a child abuse case, was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Tangerang District Court on Monday (13/9/2021). Fajar Umbara was found guilty of domestic violence (KDRT) against Yuyun Sukawati's child. In addition to the prison sentence, Fajar Umbara was also fined Rp 100 million.
Responding to the verdict of the Tangerang District Court, Fajar Umbara's wife, Yuyun Sukawati, as the plaintiff, expressed dissatisfaction with the two-year prison sentence. According to Yuyun, the verdict is far from the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
"I am disappointed, it's far from the prosecutor's demand of 4.5 years, reduced to 2.5 years, and he was sentenced to only 2 years. Meanwhile, the judge has stated that Fajar is guilty, the evidence is there. And all of it, his plea and reasons, have been rejected, so everything has been fulfilled, all the elements," said Yuyun when contacted on Monday (13/9/2021).

According to Yuyun, there were many pieces of evidence that were not read in the trial, such as severe injuries, medical examinations, and X-ray results. Not only that, the chief judge also did not read about the operation costs, which usually amounted to Rp 100 million.
"But here, my child's psychological condition was affected, traumatized, and has undergone counseling, as confirmed by the psychologist. Why weren't these things read by the honorable judge? Also, the operation costs of up to 100 million, which the surgeon said needed immediate surgery, were not read," said Yuyun.
"So, my question is whether the prosecutor has given all the files to the Honorable Judge. That's what I want to ask the Prosecutor. And also, there were many chats from Fajar that contained negative remarks and threats to my child, but they were not included there," added Yuyun.
Furthermore, there were also witnesses who were not present in the trial. However, Yuyun herself wanted these witnesses to be present in the trial, especially the doctor.
"There were several, and I also wanted the doctor witnesses to be present. We have sent a letter from the lawyer to the Prosecutor and including the witnesses in the BAP, but why weren't they present? Well, it's enough with a letter but it would be better if they came. The surgeon is ready to come, the psychologist is ready to come, but they were not present," said Yuyun.
"Then the witness who accompanied me to the doctor during the examination and to the report has already come and appeared in the trial, but there was a technical mistake that the witness had entered the courtroom. They should have been outside, but they should have been informed between the lawyer and the prosecutor, but I don't know why they were in the courtroom. Finally, they were allowed but not allowed," Yuyun concluded.
