The Judges Gave SO During the Duet with Ari, Keysha Got Bumped Instead

The D'Academy 8 Indosiar event brought surprises again in the Top 37 Group 5 round aired on Wednesday (5/8/2026). Ari from Sampang, Madura, and Keysha from East Belitung successfully amazed the judges with their duet performance of the song "Rindu Berat". Their performance earned three Standing Ovations (SO) from Dewi Perssik, Soimah, and Wika Salim.

Before performing, coach Selfi Yamma revealed that Ari and Keysha usually sing mellow tempo songs. However, this time they were challenged to perform an upbeat song complete with choreography. Selfi admitted she was surprised to see Ari's progress during the rehearsal because previously the practice had focused more on vocals.

Soimah admitted she was surprised that Ari was able to perform smoothly while duetting and following the choreography well. Although she provided some notes regarding pitch control, gestures, and adding energy in several parts of the song, Soimah still chose Ari as the recipient of the individual SO.

Dewi Perssik also praised Ari's vocal color, which she deemed to have a strong characteristic and is easily recognizable. She noted that Ari's stage presence has developed significantly and advised him to maintain his health to face the long competition ahead. Meanwhile, for Keysha, Depe appreciated her unique vocal color but suggested that her stage expression be more consistent and cheerful.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Wika Salim. According to her, Ari and Keysha complemented each other during their duet. Wika also admitted she was impressed to see Ari perform nimbly while executing the choreography, while Keysha was noted to have a round and powerful voice, although she appeared a bit nervous during her performance.

All three judges unanimously gave an individual Standing Ovation to Ari. Although their duet managed to receive three Standing Ovations, the judges' choice made Ari a more favored contestant in that performance.

At the end of the judging results, Keysha from East Belitung had to accept the reality of being eliminated from D'Academy 8. Meanwhile, Ari successfully continued his journey to the next round thanks to a performance that received appreciation from all the judges.
