After the Song Boomed, 'Akad' by Payung Teduh is Made into a Feature Film

Kapanlagi.com - The song Akad by Moh Istiqamah Djamad (Is) is already familiar to every individual in Indonesia because it is still frequently played on radios throughout the country. This phenomenon has touched the heart of IFI Sinema producer Adi Sumarjono to turn it into a feature film.
 
After a lengthy preparation process, IFI Sinema collaborated with PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a state-owned enterprise that develops and manages the tourism areas of The Nusa Dua Bali and The Mandalika Lombok NTB, supported by E-Motion Entertainment and Perum Perusahaan Film Negara (PFN) to start the production of the film titled AKAD in February 2020. The filming process of this film will take approximately one month.
 
This film stars a lineup of veteran actors including Mathias Muchus, Kevin Julio, Indah Permatasari, Nino Fernandez, Debo Andryos, and Jennifer Coppen. Meanwhile, the director's chair is entrusted to Reka Wijaya, who is also the screenwriter of AKAD.

1. Exotic Shooting Locations

The film AKAD tells the story of a father (played by Mathias Muchus), who works as an online driver and tries every day, more importantly than finding passengers, to find a match for his beloved daughter (played by Indah Permatasari), who is currently busy with her career and dreams.

This romantic and family drama is wrapped in comedy that will tickle the hearts of the audience to experience the happiness, anger, and mixed emotions, and there will be many touching stories in this film.

2. Promote The Mandalika

In addition to a well-crafted storyline and supported by quality film artists, the audience of this film will also be treated to beautiful visuals with the backdrop of beautiful hills and beaches in The Mandalika Lombok NTB area, which is currently being developed by ITDC, as one of the five priority super tourist destinations chosen by the Government. The Mandalika will also host the MotoGP world motorcycle racing series starting in 2021 at the Mandalika Street Circuit within the area.

"ITDC's involvement in the production of the film AKAD is one of the efforts to promote The Mandalika area nationally through a creative approach, which we hope will also encourage the development of the creative industry in Indonesia, especially in the film sector. Involvement in this film is also one of ITDC's support for the Kemenparekraf program that promotes tourism through film media," said ITDC President Director Abdulbar M. Mansoer.

"According to us, producing a film that sells beautiful and unique locations in certain areas is a creative step in promoting a tourist destination to the public, especially the millennial generation. Moreover, currently, there is a growing trend of tourists visiting areas that are the location or backdrop of a film. In the future, it is hoped that more production houses will utilize shooting locations in The Mandalika so that the name The Mandalika becomes more known to the public and is able to attract tourists to the area," he added.

3. Hoping to Follow the Success of the Song

The song Akad has a very deep and sacred meaning for every couple in Indonesia, even young couples who make the song their love story's theme song. This song has become one of the most phenomenal Indonesian songs, which has been watched more than 106 million times on YouTube.
 
"The film AKAD, inspired by a song, deliberately presents a very simple yet memorable story to become a must-watch film for every young couple, or maybe those who don't have a partner yet, to have a glimmer of hope that they can meet their soulmate anywhere and anytime.
