'ASIH 2' Emphasizes the Drama Side, Shareefa Daanish Enhances her Maternal Nature

Kapanlagi.com - MD Pictures' horror film, ASIH 2, became the first film to be screened in theaters after the pandemic. The sequel to ASIH has been playing in theaters since December 24, 2020, in several cinemas in Indonesia.

Some main characters are still involved in this film directed by Rizal Mantovani, such as Shareefa Daanish. Some new faces are also involved, such as Marsha Timothy and Ario Bayu, who will play important roles in ASIH 2.

In an interview with KapanLagi.com, the three mentioned above discussed the filming process and the teaser of ASIH 2. According to Shareefa, who plays the character Asih, the audience will not be confused if they watch ASIH 2 directly without watching the previous series.

"So the terror is still given by the character Asih. There is a connection from Asih 1 to Asih 2. But if the question is whether the audience will understand if they haven't watched the first one and go straight to ASIH 2. In my opinion, they will understand, but they will be able to delve deeper if they watch the first one first," said Shareefa.

1. More Horrifying and Full of Drama

ASIH 2 is said to be much scarier than its predecessor. However, there is also a strong emphasis on drama. Therefore, Marsha, Shareefa, and Ario collectively refer to this film as a complete package within a film.

"Actually, here, the dramatic aspect is highlighted. So, I personally focus on sharpening my maternal side," Shareefa continued.

2. Involvement of Risa Sarasvati

As known, ASIH 2 is based on the novel by Risa Sarasvati with the same title. Therefore, Risa's role was also crucial during the production process. When filming the first series of ASIH, Shareefa had many discussions with her.

"Risa Sarasvati was involved in the beginning when I was filming Asih and Danur for the first time. I had a lot of conversations with her because she knows the character of Asih the best. This character was created based on her novel," she concluded.
