Candil Becomes a Shaman in the Film 'SETANNYA CUAN', Admits Fighting Scenes Make Him Sore

Kapanlagi.com - The singer who is also a former vocalist of Seurieus, Dian Dipa Chandra or Candil, is once again demonstrating his dedication in the entertainment world. This time, he is trying an unusual role as a shaman in a horror comedy film titled SETANNYA CUAN. Candil admitted he was immediately interested when he received the offer to act in the film. According to him, the character he plays feels unique and challenging.

"Here I play the role of a shaman. This is an interesting role, especially since there are fighting scenes too," said Candil when met at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Saturday (28/2/2026).

Not only is he required to delve into a mystical character, but Candil also has to undergo fighting scenes that are quite exhausting. He initially thought that the action scenes would be easy to perform.

"At first, I thought the fighting scenes would be easy, but it turned out to be quite tiring as well," said Candil while laughing.

1. Choreography Practice

In support of his performance on the big screen, Candil underwent a series of choreography practices. He mentioned that his training sessions were not too long, but still required thorough preparation to ensure the scenes looked convincing and safe.

"The training wasn't actually too much. There were practice sessions in the studio, and we also practiced directly on set to adjust the movements with the props and the venue," he said.

The film SETANNYA CUAN tells the story of the rivalry between two village champions, Adang and Asep, who compete for the position of village head as well as the heart of a widow named Mince. The conflict intensifies when issues of black magic and lottery gambling arise, accompanied by the terror of supernatural beings such as pocong, babi ngepet, and tuyul that disturb the residents.

Interestingly, this film also became one of the last works of the late Babe Cabita before his passing. Setannya Cuan, previously titled Djoerig Salawe, is scheduled to be released in theaters starting March 5, 2026, and is set to present a blend of horror and comedy that entertains the audience.
