Director Gareth Evans Does Not Continue Production of 'THE RAID 3', Here Are the Facts

When asked about the clarity of the project in the Empire Spoiler Special Podcast, the director, who is the brother-in-law of Reino Barack, stated that he has lost interest in working on the third film.

"I can't see myself going back to make THE RAID 3. My interest has shifted to other projects. You work with other people, meet other people, and want to work with them again. You want to try something different, you find a suddenly intriguing story, and that's what you do next. The offer is hard to refuse," Gareth said.

2. Should Have Been Three Years Ago

In a different interview, Gareth Evans leaked that THE RAID 3 could have possibly been produced three years ago. But in reality, it couldn't be realized. Even if it did happen, it would be very difficult to gather the schedules of the cast.

"I really liked the idea of how THE RAID 3 would be made because it would obviously be different. But it should have happened three years ago. In my opinion, what remains is our (Gareth and the cast) desire to work together again on a project. And we will find that project to come together again," added Gareth as quoted during a live session on Instagram with Miles Films.

3. Plot Leak

Despite losing interest in working on THE RAID 3, the story of the film is still strongly recorded in Gareth Evans' mind. When speaking with Empire Spoiler Special Podcast, he leaked that in the third film there will no longer be the character Rama played by Iko Uwais.

Instead, a mafia boss character played by actress Christine Hakim will appear. The plot overlaps with the film THE RAID 2.
