The Fun Process of Recording Gading Marten and Asri Welas for the Audio Series 'CRAZY TEACHERS'

Kapanlagi.com - Despite delaying its release in theaters, the film CRAZY TEACHERS remains enthusiastic in finding ways to always be anticipated. One example is by creating an audio series that is played simultaneously on the iRadio network in six cities.

This eight-episode audio series discusses the lives of teachers at SMA Gunung Asri, starting with the character Taat Pribadi played by Gading Marten, Indah played by Asri Welas, and Nurmala played by Dian Sastrowardoyo. Interestingly, the storytelling moves backward before the events in the film version.

The process of recording this audio series was done by each actor from their own homes while undergoing self-quarantine. It's no wonder that there are many unique stories behind the scenes. Like Gading Marten, who even asked the worker in his house to stop making noise while recording his voice.

"This is the first time I've done something like this (recording my own voice), as an actor, it's a new challenge. I asked the worker to stop first, we have to make the sound clear, you know," said Gading in a virtual conference session on Monday (4/5/2020).

Not much different from Gading Marten, Asri Welas also tried to record the sound as clean as possible. However, there was one condition where the buzzing sound of the laptop's engine and knocking on the door were included.

"I'm the most clueless about technology. During the first recording, Gading's laptop made a sound, so it got recorded too. And suddenly there was a knock on the door," Asri recalled in the same session.

3. Tek Tok Uses Zoom

The process of recording sound does indeed use each person's cellphone, but still assisted by the sophistication of technology, namely conference call applications. This is used so that the chemistry between the characters can still be felt.

"We use Zoom to make the tek tok feel natural, but when recording we use our own phones. So we can see if it's safe (the sound) from there (Zoom). If the recording is not safe, it has to be repeated, so it's really tiring," added Dian.

The audio series GURU-GURU GOKIL will air three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you miss it, it will be rerun on Spotify, Instagram, and YouTube owned by BASE Entertainment as the production house.
