Iko Uwais Makes Directorial Debut with Film 'TIMUR', Gives Actors Full Freedom to Create
This is Iko Uwais's confession about his experience as a director in the film 'TIMUR'.
Kapanlagi.com - The process of taaruf has now become one of the increasingly popular options among young Muslims to find a life partner. However, for actor Fadi Alaydrus and actress Saskia Chadwick, this step does not seem to be a priority for them in the near future, even though they have just starred in a film that raises this theme, TAK KENAL MAKA TAARUF.
In the film, which will be released in theaters starting November 13, 2025, Fadi and Saskia play two characters who undergo the taaruf process with an interesting dynamic. This acting experience has apparently given both of them a new perspective.

According to Fadi Alaydrus, the introduction process in the modern era is now much more flexible and less rigid than in the past. Technological advancements, he says, have made it easier for potential partners to get to know each other.
"I personally see that introductions today are still possible, but the methods are indeed more modern compared to before," he said when met at a press screening event for a film at Epicentrum XXI, Jakarta, Thursday (6/11/2025).

The actor who plays the character Faris added that communication can now be done more freely through instant messaging applications, which is very different from the process in the past.
"Now perhaps introduction participants can use WhatsApp, so communication is a bit freer compared to before. In the past, it had to be through letters or maybe you could only meet once a week or once a month," he continued.

Nevertheless, Fadi admits that he still wants to focus on his career and complete his education. Matters of matchmaking, he leaves entirely to God.
"Personally, I haven't thought about that yet, especially at this productive age. So I'm still focused on my career, focused on finishing my studies. Whatever happens in the end, I just leave it to the one above," he expressed.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Saskia Chadwick, who plays the character Zoya. Her role in this film has opened her eyes to the concept of taaruf, which she previously considered scary.

"At this age, I might not have thought about it too much. But after playing Zoya, I became open to the idea that, oh, there’s also the option of taaruf and it’s not that scary," said Saskia.
